Launching ExxonMobil’s Global Women in Management Program

ExxonMobil launched its Global Women in Management (GWiM) program in 2009, which took place in Egypt. The company called on MEAComS to publicize event through capturing sufficient media attention, while emphasizing Exxon’s commitment to diversity and empowerment of women in the business world. The program invited 23 business women from around the Middle East to explore various management practices and methodologies to be implemented within their organizations.

The Challenge

The program invited 23 businesswomen from around the Middle East to explore various management practices and methodologies to be implemented within their organizations.

The Approach

MEAComS recognized the importance of establishing a strong presence early on for Exxon’s initiative and helped implement a solid communication plan focused on the Foundation’s role. For the event, through tactful coaching and practice of interview techniques, we aided the delegates to speak prominently on the Foundation’s efforts at the press conference. A detailed press release entailing the company’s needs was disseminated to relevant press outlets, while promoting media relations at the event with key spokespersons.

The Results

Over the course of one month, ExxonMobil’s press event drew more than 34 media outlets, including magazines, newspapers and online news portals, further promoting social awareness on the issue. Additionally, the GWiM program received televised coverage of interviews conducted with the delegates, airing on several TV channels. To round out the successful launch, the coverage was seen by an estimated 6,658,160 viewers.
