Xiaomi flagship Mi 8 arrives in Egypt at EGP8,888

Cairo, 7 of August, 2018—Global technology leader Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship Mi 8 in Egypt packed with world-class technologies. Powered by the red-hot Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, Mi 8 offers stunning performance justified by an AnTuTu score of more than 30,000. Its 12MP dual AI camera received a DxOMark score of 105 for photography, which is the best among all Xiaomi phones and one of the best in the world. Mi 8 is also the first phone in the world to have dual frequency GPS that offers extremely accurate navigation.

AnTuTu 30,000 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845

Powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 platform with Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE) and Adreno 630 graphics, Mi 8 is able to achieve an impressive AnTuTu score exceeding 300,000. The platform sees a 30 percent performance increase over the last generation but at the same time consumes 30 percent less power. Mi 8 offers 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, enough to cope with high-demanding applications such as gaming, image processing and multitasking.

Best Xiaomi smartphone camera ever

Mi 8 elevates the exceptional photography experience Xiaomi delivered with Mi MIX 2S, blowing the competition out of the water thanks to professional tuning from Xiaomi's camera lab. With a 12MP dual AI camera, Mi 8 received a 105 photo score from the respected camera benchmark organization DxOMark — becoming the fourth best smartphone camera in the world. On the front, Mi 8 sports a 20MP camera that uses pixel binning technology to combine information from four pixels to create one large 1.8µm pixel for clearer photos in low light.

With new software features including the AI-enabled Studio Lighting function, portraits now look like they were shot in a professional studio setting. In addition, Xiaomi’s AI Beautify 5.0 delivers a number of facial retouching effects for amazing portraits. Mi 8 also features face unlocking with an infrared camera paired with a dedicated infrared illuminator, enabling rapid and accurate face unlocking in a pitch black environment.

6.21” FHD+ AMOLED full screen display

Mi 8 is a perfect unification of aesthetics, ergonomics and quality. It features a four-sided curved glass back panel, aviation-grade aluminum frame and a 2.5D glass screen. It sports a 6.21-inch

FHD+ Samsung AMOLED full screen display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and 86.68% screen-to-body ratio.

The display has 60000:1 high contrast ratio and 600nit brightness. It supports DCI-P3 color space and is able to display more colors than smartphones using the commonly-used sRGB color space. With the Always On Display feature, the screen can display certain notifications during sleep mode. It also has useful features such as Sunlight Readability, Reading Mode, Color Temperature Adjustment and Hide Notch.

Dual frequency GPS for super-accurate navigation

Mi 8 is the first smartphone in the world to adopt dual-frequency GPS, supporting both L1 and L5 bands. The L5 band, mostly used by the aeronautical industry, has longer code length and higher power than L1. Comparing with L1 signals, L5 signals are less affected by building reflection and ionospheric stratification—the dispersion of GPS signals as they travel through the ionosphere. By having both the L1 and L5 bands, Mi 8 can provide super-accurate navigation, which is very important for certain scenarios such as walking navigation and calling for taxi.

Comparing with smartphones with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, Mi 8 is one step ahead by using Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ for faster charging, better charging efficiency and lower temperature.

Mi 8 comes in Egypt with 6GB+64GB version priced at EGP8,888, making it the most pocket-friendly smartphone driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.

Preorder started on August, 6th and Mi 8 will be officially on sale through Authorized Mi Store and Souq starting at 8:00 PM on August, 8th.
